Nelson Nghe is a Western Sydney-based artist working across painting, photo media, and assemblage. His practice is defined by a passionate use of mixed media and playful abstraction to challenge conventions and illuminate the lived experience of gambling harm—as seen through the eyes of an affected other.

Drawing from personal and community narratives, Nghe’s work advocates for the often invisible impact of gambling harm on family members, friends, and communities who carry emotional, financial, and psychological burdens in silence. His art humanises these stories, creating space for empathy, recognition, and collective understanding.

By centring the voices of affected others, Nghe aims to expand the public conversation around gambling harm—shifting it beyond statistics and stereotypes to encompass its broader social toll. Through this work, he hopes to contribute to both awareness and meaningful harm prevention and reduction efforts in Australia.
