Nelson is a Sydney based visual artist, creating contemporary works through the passionate use of mixed media. His art practice tells a personal story as a first generation Australian-Chinese growing up queer within a culturally and linguistically diverse background in western Sydney.

There are interwoven layers of refugee and migrant journeys which are unraveled within Nelson’s practice in order to understand the intergenerational impacts of his Southeast Asian diaspora.

At the same time this has led to intersectional tales of trauma, where Nelson shines a light on the lived experience of gambling harm as an affected other, in order to highlight the urgent need for gambling reforms.
